As a furnished rental owner, you deal with two different French tax offices.
| Your question is about… | Office | How to reach it |
|---|---|---|
| Your income tax, withholding tax | SIP (personal tax office) | Secure messaging in your personal account |
| Your property tax (taxe foncière) | SIP (personal tax office) | Secure messaging in your personal account |
| Your CFE (local business tax) | SIE (business tax office) | Secure messaging in your professional account |
| Your VAT, if you are liable for it | SIE (business tax office) | Secure messaging in your professional account |
| Your LMNP tax return (forms 2031 and 2033) | SIE (business tax office) | Secure messaging in your professional account |
What about the SIRET number? It is not issued by the SIE but by INSEE, after your start-of-business declaration on the government's one-stop business portal (formalites.entreprises.gouv.fr). Any changes (new address, end of the activity) are declared there too.
Living abroad? Your income tax is handled by the tax office for non-residents (see article 2.7).
Not sure who to contact? Ask us before writing to the tax office.
